display panels (PDP) are making a big impact on digital consumer electronics up to 60 inches and bigger to come. This technology
has emerged as the premiere solution for large format, high quality, colour video content delivery.
Features and Benefits
The
strongest advantages to PDPs are image quality and scale. Brightness and viewing angle are superior to even the best LCD or
rear projection alternative. Size-wise there is no comparison in true flat panel technologies.
As noted, PDP is also a flat panel form factor, another inherent advantage. This makes it
the only high quality/large format technology suitable for wall mounting and space limited applications. PDPs typically measure
15 - 20cm in depth.
Finally, PDP is an extremely rugged technology. Every single pixel in a PDP panel is an independent
light emitting structure. This means that the display is much less susceptible to single points-of-failure, and also able
to absorb some structural damage and continue to operate.
